May 3-24, 2018 Betweenscapes Curated by Kathy Zarur and Roula Seikaly SOMArts Cultural Center, San Francisco, CA
May 26th, 2018-Max Memorial Commemoration (I'm working with a dedicated team to paint a mural at Portland's Hollywood Max Station as well as with educators and activists to program events in confluence with the memorial) Sept 2018-Unwalking the West, PNCA's Center for Contemporary Art and Culture Residency: I was invited to be one of three Cultural Organizer Residents for Pacific Northwest College of Art 2017-18 alongside Lisa Bates and Roger Peet. What an honor! I look forward to working on projects with PNCA's amazing resources and to hopefully engage collaboratively with my fellow COR's. Plotting plotting plotting....
Other projects: In response to an invitation from the Apache community, this February together with others I participated in the 4th annual walk to Oak Flat. I'm also working on being an engaged professor...which is tough as a precarious adjunct, but I love the work! I'm building an art studio/semi public space. Donations towards those projects are always welcome. As I receive, I also give back to my community in the form of graphics to support social movements and hope to create a space for showing art and kids art education.
Reflections: Last year I've was honored to be traveling and learning in North Dakota, southern Utah, California, Oregon, Idaho and Montana-excavating the colonial history, indigenous resistance and ecology of those regions through support from Signal Fire Arts and the IMPACT award as well as individual donations. These struggles are ongoing, I continue to make work in response to my experiences and look forward to lending fierce loving support when invited.
