Footprints is a sand animation created in response to ongoing racial tension, violence and gentrification in my NE Portland neighborhood.  Many artists find themselves in neighborhoods going through these structurally violent transitions.  Artistic beautification of a neighborhood can often lead to gentrification which while it can decrease crime and increase income for the local residents, often results in one community being pushed out in order for another to settle in.  This problematic continues to stay with me.
